2012 Was Not the End of the World

The Mayan calendar ended on December 21, 2012 and many people worried what would happen. Would it mean the end of the world? The apocalypse described in the Bible? Perhaps it would mean an era of peace and harmony. The day came and went without any apocalyptic events. Does that mean that there isn't anything to worry about now?

Mayan Calendar

Mayan Calendar

There are 144,000 days in the Mayan Calendar. Many people believe that the end of the calendar is just the end of a particular cycle, not the end of the world. This would be the end of 144,000 days and the beginning of the next 144,000 days. The Mayans had cycles of 5125.366 years.

The Mayan Long Count calendar will reach 13.0.0.0.0 on December 21, 2012. The ancient Mayans made no reference to a cataclysmic destruction on this date. It is a coincidence that the date occurs on a solar event, though this event occurs every December 21st.

Christian Apocalypse

For some, the end of the Mayan Calendar melds with the description of the apocalypse described in the book of Revelation from the Bible. The end times are described in great detail throughout the Bible, and not only in the book of Revelation.

The following are the seven seals that will be broken before the Apocalypse occurs:

  1. Conquest – a White Horse
  2. War – a Red Horse
  3. Famine – a Black Horse
  4. Death – a Pale Horse or Green Horse
  5. Vision of The Martyrs
  6. Earthquake and the marking of the Beast on foreheads and hands
  7. Trumpets of Angels and the End of the World

It is believed that 144,000 prophets will spread the word of God to every corner of the world so that everyone will have a chance to know God and the word of Jesus before the End of the World.

When Satan appears, people will believe that he is the chosen one. He will make people believe that he has the answer to all of their suffering. People will blindly follow him because they will believe all that he has to say. Those who challenge him or will not believe in him will be struck down. He will lead people to believe that there are many Gods that can be worshiped, but this is how people will know he isn't the real Savior, for there can be only one God and one Jesus Christ.

The Apocalypse

Lakota Sioux Legend of the White Buffalo

At one of the seven council fires of the Lakota Sioux, the people were becoming very hungry. Two young warriors were sent out to hunt. Along the way they came across a beautiful woman who was dressed in white and appeared to be floating above the ground. The first man desired her and when he tried to touch her, she reduced him to bones and ashes. The woman told the second man to return to his people and to tell them that she was coming.

The woman came to the people and presented them with a small bundle. Within the bundle was a pipe. She showed the people how to use it to pray. The woman then taught the people the value of the buffalo, women and children. She explained that women were as valuable as the strongest warrior. After this, she said she would one day return. Then, she rolled four times on the ground and transformed into a white buffalo calf and walked away.

In 1994 a white buffalo calf was born, named Miracle. It is believed that she may represent the legendary woman in white, and perhaps is ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity.
